Why You Should Consider an Engagement Session

By | May 24, 2017 | Wedding Advice

You’re thinking about having an engagement session but you can’t decided if it’s worth it. I mean is it necessary to have more photos of yourself? Do you really need to add another item to your already long list of things to do for your wedding? Yes. Yes it is. And it won’t be chore. I promise. Below are my 3 top reasons why having an engagement session is actually a good thing.

Quality Hangout Time

First and what is most important – we get to hang out! We get to know each other better before the wedding day! You’ll be able to experience how I photograph and I’ll be able to see how you interact as a couple. It’s a win-win guys! We all win! But for reals. It’s a great way to learn my photographing process so you have a better understanding of what it’s like to be in front of the camera. I also get to know what makes you both laugh (or not) and discover what your cheesy smiles look like (and learn how to avoid them).

Get Comfortable in Front of the Camera

My second reason for having an engagement session? You’ll be more relaxed in front of the camera for your wedding day. Most of my clients have never been professionally photographed before and being in front of the camera can feel a little intimidating. The solution? Yup! A super fun relaxing no pressure hangout with me in which I bring my camera and take some cool photos of you and your partner being all sweet and adorable. (See what I did there? Doesn’t it sound super appealing?!).

Fancy Photos

The final reason to do an engagement session is you’ll have great photos of you and your significant other in clothes besides wedding attire. I mean there are only so many one handed selfies you can do before it’d be nice to have an image with your whole body in it. Plus engagement photos are great for save the dates, your wedding website, and sharing on social media. And as gifts to family members, a wedding day album guest book, or for decorating your home and office. They’re even fantastic to as a giant mural on your living room wall. (Kidding! Unless you’re into that and all I can say is “Rock on! You do you!”)

So to sum up, engagement session = getting to know me & visa versa = fun relaxed time in front of camera = more great photos to have of yourself & your partner = great decision. Did I convince you?! Yeah I did! So let’s go grab a drink and figure this whole engagement session deal out. Oh and if you want some advice on how to prepare for your session – I got you covered.
