Josh and I took a weekend trip to Orcas Island in the San Juans where we spent our time hiking, eating, and relaxing. Our friend Braden was running a 50k on Mt. Constitution and had invited us along to witness his craziness. There are an insane amount of switch backing trails all over the mountain. I’m still in awe that he completed the 30 plus miles and was completely functional later that night.
We weren’t as ambitious with our exercise and spent most of the trip hiking around Mt. Constitution and exploring Eastsound. Oh and eating. As we do on most vacations we ate a lot. A majority of the images below are from our hike to the top of Mt. Constitution. The highest point in the San Juan Islands the mountain hosts amazing views. We were lucky enough that the clouds parted just in time for sunset and Mt. Baker was out.
We stayed in Eastsound at the Outlook Inn (which is a fantastic wedding venue). The boutique hotel overlooks the bay and has a wide selection of comfortable rooms. Our second day began with a delicious breakfast at Island Skillet and coffee at Brown Bear Baking. We explored Eastsound, hiked in Moran State Park and had dinner at Pizzeria Portofino.
