What My Clients Say

“Clara took amazing photos of our wedding in Kauai. I wanted casual shots of our friends and family enjoying themselves, and Clara made sure to get the perfect shots while allowing the night to unfold naturally. I can’t recommend Clara enough—she was a joy to work with.”

"Clara shot our wedding at the Fremont Abbey and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! Not only does Clara take incredible photographs, she is easy to work with, super fun, and incredibly professional. We asked Clara to let her own artistic intuition guide her through the evening, and her talent is evident in the myriad exquisite photographs we now have with creative backgrounds she found in the surrounding neighborhood. In addition to her raw talent, Clara is also quick with her turnaround - we had our full album in 2 weeks time - WOW! I would recommend Clara as a wedding photographer without hesitation. Thanks, Clara!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you buy me a drink?

Of course! I’d love to get to know you, hear what you’re planning for your wedding, and answer any questions you have about wedding photography. Choose your favorite Seattle coffee shop or bar for us to meet, and the coffee/beer/wine is on me! Let’s meet.

Do you photograph weddings outside of Seattle or Washington?

Yes, name your wedding destination, and I’ll be there! Depending on your destination’s wedding economy, local wedding photography prices can be inflated for low quality work or limited coverage. Plus it’s always helpful to meet your photographer before your big day. I’ll prepare a quote for any travel costs.

How do I reserve my wedding date?

Just get in touch with me to check if your date is available. I’ll answer any questions you may have, and with a one-third deposit and signed agreement reserve your date on my calendar. The remaining two thirds is due on your wedding day.

What is your wedding photography style?

My background and education was in documentary photography and photojournalism, so my favorite shots are usually of candid moments between you and your partner. However, I also believe in the importance of recording the day with posed photographs, including the ones you want with your family and friends. After your wedding, I edit the photos to make sure you look your best and that the colors and exposure are accurate. Rather than adding flashy effects in Photoshop, I want you to have an authentic record of the beautiful ceremony and party you planned.

What if I have to reschedule?

No worries! Life happens. If your rescheduled date is still available, your deposit will be transferred to said date. Otherwise, your deposit is credited toward a photo session that can be booked up to one year from your original event date.

Should we do an engagement photo session?

I recommend getting engagement photos because they are a great way for us to meet up before your wedding day and for you and your partner to get comfortable being photographed. You’ll see my workflow, and I get a sense of what will work best for your wedding photos. Plus engagement photos are great for save the dates, your wedding website, sharing on social media, gifts to family members, a wedding day album guest book, and for decorating your home and office. However, an engagement session is not necessary for me to rock your wedding day photos, and I understand if you’re not into it.

How do I get my photographs?

I’m a big believer in you not having to wait months for your photographs. Within two weeks of your wedding, I will publish an online gallery for you to check them out and share with your guests. After that, you will also receive a flash drive with high resolution files for you to use however you like! In addition to guaranteeing your photos are ready in two weeks, I also back them up in the cloud until your 10th anniversary so you don’t have to worry about losing them.

Why is wedding photography one of my larger wedding expenses?

Unlike the food served, drinks downed, music played, clothes worn, flowers and decorations set up, venue reserved and even your honeymoon, your wedding photographs last beyond that awesome day in your life. Decades later they’ll help you relive the emotions of that day, remember how beautiful everyone was, recall how great the food/drink/music/flowers/venue were, and share those memories with your family and friends. Quality wedding photographs are one of the most valuable things you can purchase for your wedding.

Wedding photographers are professional service providers and small business owners who make a living selling their talent and ultimately their time. After considering all the hours a wedding photographer spends meeting with you, photographing your wedding, and editing thousands of photos, the hourly rate of many wedding photographers makes us more affordable than lawyers, accountants, electricians, plumbers and many other professional service providers. Taxes, insurance, professional and modern photography gear, photo editing hardware and software, and other costs of delivering a high quality service ensure that I work hard to make a living. I do what I do because I love it!

Are you prepared for the unexpected?

Yes, I’m ready for your wedding with backup photography gear and a few things I’ve learned come in handy (like a clear umbrella!). After your day I store your photos on redundant drives and in the cloud so they are safe and sound. And if your fun-loving high school friend knocks over my gear doing the sprinkler on the dance floor, I’m insured and can provide proof of insurance should your venue need it.

How long have you been photographing weddings?

I earned my BFA in photography in 2010 and photographed my first wedding that year. In addition to photographing weddings, I shoot other events and work as a digital retoucher (detailed photo editing in Photoshop), with work appearing on REI, Amazon, Blue Nile and Nordstrom’s websites.
